Giralang man held for strangling partner

A 43-year-old Giralang man has been charged with assaulting and strangling his partner during two family violence incidents earlier this week.

Police allege that on Monday evening the man, who is subject to bail conditions, pushed the woman to the ground and strangled her until she lost consciousness.

In a second incident on Tuesday morning, he allegedly pinned the woman to a couch, strangled her and punched her in the head multiple times.

He was arrested a short time later and charged with two counts of aggravated common assault and acts endangering health (choke/suffocate/strangle).
