BEFORE there was “planking”, a loyal band of online oddballs stuck their heads in freezers and posted photographic evidence, cryptically tagged with the code 241543903.
And after the growth and inevitable decline of the worldwide trend of photographing yourself lying, stiff as a board, face-down in a variety of settings, came another called “leisure diving”.
This involves snapping someone in mid-air above a pool, as they try their best to pose in a relaxed way.
Now the co-owner of a Dutch comedy website, Jeffrey van den Berg, claims to have started the newest online photographic fad with the launch today of his new website all about “shoeing”.
“Take at least one pair of shoes and simulate the rest of your body is behind or inside an object and take a picture of it,” Mr van den Berg’s worldwide press announcement advises.
“It is as simple as it is funny,” he says, careful to point out that safety always comes first.
“There’s no reason to get injured due to Shoeing, but every hype has its own over-enthusiastic picture makers who will go very far for that one funny shot. I’m especially curious about how far everyone would go and how creative they are.”
