Man faces court after siege

A BANKS man will face the ACT Magistrates Court this morning, March 6, after he barricaded himself inside a unit in Red Hill following an argument where he had allegedly assaulted the resident with a weapon. 

The victim managed to escape the apartment and notify the police.

ACT police successfully negotiated the “safe and peaceful removal” of the 39-year-old man who was taken into police custody.

The man will face court on charges of forcible confinement, possess offensive weapon with intent and two counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
