“Surrender (after Pussy Riot)” by Robert Hague, hand coloured lithograph with 24ct gold leaf, 2019.

“PORCELAINE” is an exhibition of lithographs in which artist Robert Hague takes on a succession of iconic Australian artworks referencing colonial to modern imagery. Each is reconfigured, transported into a contemporary reading and rendered in detail using an old world stone lithographic process. Megalo Print Studio + Gallery, 21 Wentworth Avenue, Kingston, until June 29, opening by NGA’s senior curator of Australian prints and drawings, Roger Butler, 6pm, Friday, May 31. All welcome.

“SANDRA Black, Reflective Space” is an exhibition of fine ceramics at Beaver Galleries, until June 16. Drinks with the artist at the exhibition opening, 81 Denison Street, Deakin, 6pm, May 30. All welcome.

BEAVER is also opening “Illuminated artefacts”, featuring paintings by Julian Laffan as well as works by Braidwood artist Laffan who specialises in woodcuts and drawings exploring themes of history and identity. Also at 81 Denison Street, Deakin. Opening 6pm, May 30. All welcome. 

“Neither. Nor” by Nigel Lendon, 13, eighteen cylindrical elements, powder coated steel.

“UNFINISHED Business” brings together three significant contemporary artists based in the ACT region – Peter Alwast, Rebecca Mayo and Nigel Lendon. Curator Alexander Boynes has noticed that they share generational overlaps in their practices, mostly related to their formal aesthetics, attitude and mode of interpreting the world. Canberra Contemporary Art Space, Gorman Arts Centre, 55 Ainslie Avenue, Braddon, 11am-5pm, Tuesday to Saturday, May 31 to July 27.

“THE Art of Giving: Acquisitions from the Meredith Hinchliffe Fund” honours one of Canberra Museum and Gallery’s longest-standing donors. At CMAG, Civic Square, Monday to Saturday, until August 24.

“WARPED and Twisted” is Canberra Spinners & Weavers’ way of showcasing a variety of articles designed to appeal. Included are wearables, homewares, art pieces and experimental items. At The Q Exhibition Space, 251 Crawford Street, Queanbeyan, 10am-4pm, Monday to Friday, and 10am-2pm, Saturday, May 30 to June 15. Official opening by Adelin Chin, noon-2pm, Saturday, June 1.

THE ceramic works by Trenna Langdon are reminders of the tranquil environs around her studio at Strathnairn Arts to the river valley below. They will be on show at Strathnairn Arts Homestead, 90 Stockdill Drive, Holt, May 30 to June 23. Official opening 4pm, Saturday, June 1. All welcome.

TO celebrate National Reconciliation Week, Craft ACT: Craft + Design Centre will be focusing on its indigenous artists and the contribution they make to the community, with special focus on and works by Jenni Kemarre Martiniello and the Tjanpi Desert Weavers. Level 1, North Building, 180 London Circuit Canberra, 10am-5pm, Tuesday to Friday, and 12pm-4pm, Saturday.
