Hopeless but lovable Bruce

Bruce the foam puppet… wowing audiences at the Edinburgh Fringe.

“LOW-fi puppetry” is on the way to The Street later in June as master puppeteers Daniel Buckle and Nick Pages-Oliver recreate an epic adventure of love and revenge around a yellow block of foam with eyes and a pair of hands in white gloves.

“Bruce” is billed as “a two-man, one-puppet show fusion of mime and puppetry.”

Created by WA Academy of Performing Arts graduates Wyatt Nixon-Lloyd and Tim Watts, it wowed audiences at the Edinburgh Fringe as the hopeless but lovable hero, Bruce, was seen redeeming himself by telling the incredible story of his life as the hero-cop turned novelist-astronaut who battles through the depths of the sewers and the heights of outer space.

The minimalist comic show is presented by Perth-based theatre collective The Last Great Hunt and there’s an “adult themes and language” for this production, which is recommended for 15+.

“Bruce” at The Street Theatre, 8pm, June 18-22, book at thestreet.org.au or 6247 1223.
