CIRCA’S “Peepshow” shows off “teetering towers of balanced bodies, extreme bending [and] devilishly precarious aerials” in Canberra Theatre, November 4-6, while in The Playhouse, from November 6-7, “Wolfgang’s Magical Musical Circus” reinvents Mozart’s magical music in a skilful and illuminating show featuring Circa’s daredevil artists and a live accordionist. GALLERY Bodalla, beset by fire and pandemic this year, has reopened with an enticing virtual show of artworks created by artists and colourists Prue Acton and Merv Moriarty. Former icon of Australian fashion, Acton now paints the vibrant colours of the Australian bush, while Moriarty captures the beauty and drama of the sapphire coast.

WESLEY Music Centre lunchtime concert series welcome the return of pianist Mark Jurkiewicz in another performance of the music of Chopin. The program features the Four Mazurkas Op.24, Ballade No. 1 in G minor Op.23, Barcarolle in F sharp Op.60 and the Grande Valse in A flat Major, Op.42. GEOFF Grey and the players of Australian Wind Symphony have cancelled the planned performance for Remembrance Day, the first cancellation since its inception in 2015. But, they say, they’re optimistic they can go head with a full concert program in 2021, including the pieces scheduled for November 11. Small-batch recitals will still go ahead. Details here.

ANCA IS presenting a solo exhibition by 2019 Emerging Artist support scheme winner Bryan Foong. “The ladder is now a…” is the first iteration of a project comprising acts of doing and undoing, and the work is imagined as “a eulogy/tautology dedicated to aspiration/atony, labour/loss, temptation/determent, paper/skin”. THE Fellowship of Australian Writers, ACT and Region is compiling an anthology of prose and poetry entitled “School Days” and invites past and present members of the ACT branch to submit two items for consideration. Short stories of up to 2,500 words and poetry limited to 50 lines with photos will be accepted.
