IN the 2020 Craft ACT members exhibition, current trends in contemporary craft and design are showcased. This year, Craft ACT received proposals from 75 artists and selected more than 80 works that are shaping and securing the future of craft and design. THE 11th Korean Film Festival in Australia returns until November 5, with a free digital program of 18 feature films.

CANBERRA Contemporary Art Space, now on the lake near Commonwealth Place, is holding its first open day from 2-4pm this Saturday, October 31. The present show is “Blaze Fourteen”, which finishes at 5pm on Sunday, November 1.

WEATHER permitting, the Manning Clark House Chats will continue apace in the gardens at 11 Tasmania Circle, Forrest from 1pm-2pm, this Monday, November 2, with poet Luke Whitington, MC’d by Mark O’Connor. Book here.

THEN on Sunday, November 1 from 2-5pm, Escapado and Craig Williams will be at the Artists Shed, with elements of soul, blues, funk and country, giving life to old songs, and a BBQ in the break. Book here

BRAHMS’ “String Sextet No.2 in G Major, Opus 36″, written in the midst of the composer’s infatuation with singer Agathe von Siebold, is the subject of Canberra Strings’ next concert, to be performed by Barbara Jane Gilby, Pip Thompson, Lucy Carrigy-Ryan, Jack Chenoweth, Samuel Payne and Julia Janiszewski. Acting and Devising Theatre class.

ACTING teacher Peter Wilkins has made changes to the dates of his course, Acting and Devising Theatre. It will now be offered on Thursdays, November 12 to December 3, still from 7pm-9pm. FREE fundraising yoga classes will be held at Gorman Arts Centre at 9am, every Sunday from November 1 until March 28, with a wet weather contingency. No bookings required, but it’s limited capacity so first come, first served. While every class is free, those who can are encouraged to make a donation to Canberra’s Domestic Violence Crisis Service.

THE postponed performance by 16 members of Canberra Dance Theatre’s Gold and Revel performance groups, “In the Spirit” on and around Fiona Hooton’s sculpture “Ziggurat”, a straw-bale construction erected on the shores of Lake Burley Griffin for the Contour 556 festival, will now take place outside CCAS’ East Space gallery on the lake, 3.15pm and 4.15pm, Saturday, October 31.
