Artsday / Music at Midday’s big and precise return

RMC Big Band

CTC@HOME’S line-up for this week, streamed live from the Canberra Theatre, includes the welcome return of Music at Midday  on Tuesday, July 7, with the RMC Band playing big band music with military precision. At 6pm on Wednesday, July 9, French-Australian MC MN Cappo will present old school hip-hop, followed at 7pm by Joel Barcham’s “Roll for Intelligence” featuring the cult classic board game, “Betrayal at House on the Hill”. 

THEN on Friday, July 10, electric guitarist and vocalist Pheno (Jess Green) will perform at 6pm, followed at 7pm by a play reading of “If It Lives”, by Canberra playwright Stuart Roberts, originally produced by The Master of Space and Time on commission from the Australian Museum, Sydney. At 8pm the week winds up with “The World from Here with Chris Endrey” where the week’s theme will be “Abundance”. CTC@Home, until August 15, accessible at facebook.com/canberratheatrecentre

Musicians performing “Jamaican Rumba” online

THE much-awaited CSO and ANU School of Music “Virtual Orchestra” is up-and-running with musicians from the CSO, the ANU Orchestra and the Canberra community. They’ll be performing Arthur Benjamin’s bouncy “Jamaican Rumba” online under the baton of Nicholas Milton, with Kirsten Williams as concertmaster, audio engineering by Craig Greening and video production by Matt Barnes. CANBERRA region sculptor Al Phemister is running a free two-day creative workshop from 10am-4pm on Saturday and Sunday, August 8 and 9, about turning waste into art. Participants will discover how to recognise waste and rubbish that can be upcycled into art materials then learn techniques and processes to turn upcycled materials into 3D art to take home. Suitable for ages 16 and over. Bookings limited,  here.

ANCA Gallery in Dickson

ANCA Gallery in Dickson finds it has a three-week exhibition slot available from September 9 to 27 and welcome applications from local or interstate artists, curators, collectives and collaborators working in any medium or field of practice.
