National Gallery shuts its doors

The National Gallery of Australia

THE National Gallery of Australia will be closed until further notice, it has just been announced (March 23).

This decision, gallery staff say, is a precautionary measure based on new advice from Australian health experts, new guidelines for indoor gatherings and an increasing need to comply with social distancing.

Refunds will be provided to people who have pre-purchased tickets for the “Matisse & Picasso” exhibition, and the gallery will be in touch with ticket holders shortly.
