Coming to SoundOut: Wilbert de Joode double bass

THE 11th “SoundOut” Festival of Experimental and Improvised Music takes place over the weekend at the ANU Drill Hall Gallery, Saturday and Sunday, February 1-2, from 1pm-5pm and 7pm-11.30pm on both days. LOCAL artist Naomi Zouwer is leading a collaborative art-making workshop called “Creating a Sustainable World” where children will make and then destroy an ephemeral artwork out of recycled materials. BILK Gallery’s last exhibition in Manuka will be “Linked”, exquisite work by jeweller Carlier Makigawa. This exhibition combines work from her “Delirious In Uzbekistan” collection and pieces never exhibited in Australia before. Makigawa had one of the first exhibitions at Bilk, 20 years ago. PHOTOACCESS’ first show of 2020 is its inaugural annual ’emerging artists’ showcase, featuring 16 of the ACT and surrounding regions’ future leaders in photo-media practice, and curated by Wouter Van de Voorde, director Kirsten Wehner and Annette Liu. SANGUINETI MEDIA has opened enrolment to its after-school weekly Filmmaker Club, suitable for years 7-10 and its “Writing Planning Filming Editing Screening” course.
