FURTHER to our news of the ACT government’s “Homefront 3” grants, Arts Activities funding of $5000 to $50,000 has also been announced.
Formerly known as “project funding,” it is open twice a year and provides funding to Canberra artists and arts groups for one-off projects and this time round, total of 14 artists will receive funding over what Arts Minister Tara Cheyne described as a broad range of artforms – dance, literature, music, screen, theatre and visual arts, and including recipients from diverse backgrounds and First Nations artists.
Arts Activities recipients range from well-known theatre makers such as Chenoeh Miller and Ylaria Rogers to musos Sputnik Sweetheart, who will receive $13,619, to produce their new EP “Something More”, and Lilah and Stephen Gow’s Crossroads Movement, who will develop artistic practice and a new dance work “Sashay Café.”
“When our artists and creatives are supported, our arts ecosystem is strengthened and we all benefit from having a flourishing artistic community,” Minister Cheyne said.
