THE owner of a “priceless” guitar collection, which was stolen from his Queanbeyan home last month, has been reunited with some of the treasured items.
A “thrilled” Charlie Tizzard said police recovered two of the 16 “rare and valuable” guitars stolen from his Thorpe Avenue home in early July.
He has also been reunited with his grandfather clock, weighing 30kgs, which has been in the family since the 1800s. It was also stolen during the break-and-enter.
While he is thrilled about the return of these items, Mr Tizzard said his late mother’s jewellery collection, along with 14 other vintage guitars, amplifiers and 50 rare guitar pedals, are still missing.
“The jewellery was the most sentimental thing that was taken,” Mr Tizzard said.
“It’s been a real kick in the guts.”
Despite the ordeal, Mr Tizzard said he’s received an outpouring of support from the community.
“DW Music in Fyshwick sold me a valuable guitar cheaply and they replaced a rare guitar pedal for me,” said Mr Tizzard.
“I feel like half of Canberra and Queanbeyan are rooting for me.”
Police arrested a 47-year-old Queanbeyan man in relation to the incident, he’s been charged with two counts of goods in custody, possess prohibited weapon and breach AVO.
“CityNews” understands that one person has been charged in relation to the incident and is in custody.
