With just a jump to the left, Southern Tablelands Arts is kicking off its Screen 2025 season, directed by Gary Vehtic, with cult classic The Rocky Horror Picture Show. The Q, Queanbeyan, February 9.

A new book, Dream Burnie, will be launched at Smith’s Alternative on February 11. It showcases some of the north-west coast of Tasmania’s most successful artists and an interview with Peter Garrett about Midnight Oil’s song Burnie.
Professors Clare Wright and Frank Bongiorno come together for an illuminating conversation about Wright ‘s latest book Näku Dhäruk: The Bark Petitions and her body of work. Manning Clark House, February 12.

- The Bald Archy Prize, entering its 29th year, is Australia’s leading satirical art showcase. Watson Arts Centre, February 7-March 23.
- Waves of Kinship presents new photo-based work by Canberra artist Marzena Wasikowska, inspired by fieldwork and studio meditations. Platform, Furneaux Street, Manuka, February 7-23.
- An exhibition of new figurative paintings by emerging artists Edward Essing and Astro Spiller will open at Suki & Hugh Gallery, Gibraltar Street, Bungendore on February 8 and runs until March 7.
- Blaze 2025, Curated by Alexander Boynes and Benjamin Shingles, is at Canberra Contemporary, 44 Queen Elizabeth Terrace Parkes, February 8- April 17.
Stage
- Comedian Garry Starr returns to perform every Penguin Classic novel ever written in an hour, and as usual, mostly naked. The Q, Queanbeyan, February 7.
- Lakespeare and The Q present Macbeth, The Q, Queanbeyan, February 12-16, pay what you feel. Free performances at Tuggeranong Park, February 21, Patrick White Lawns, NLA, February 22-23, and Haig Park, March 1. All details at lakespeare.com

- Wayne Kelly Trio is celebrating 25 years of playing and sharing their passion for jazz. The Street Theatre, February 7.
- Super Rats will play Romanian favourites in the northern end of Glebe Park as part of the National Multicultural Festival , February 7.
- The Hive’s Pop-Up Bar in Queanbeyan’s Yellow House, in Crawford Street, is open again for Friday happy hour, with music by Azlan Bathusha. February 7, children welcome.
- Cult favourites of avant-garde jazz, The Necks, launch their Bleed Album, The Street Theatre, February 8.
- The Merry Muse has Enda Kenny performing, followed by Bob Hart, Roanna, Silver Foxes, Banksi Sisters at Canberra Irish Club, 6 Parkinson Street Weston, February 9.
- Joseph Tawadros appears in The Oud Unleashed, The Street Theatre, February 9.
