With more than 350 artists and arts organisations from across the country taking part, Creative Australia’s AusArt Day 2026 takes centre stage tomorrow in a nationwide fundraising initiative designed to help artists and arts organisations raise money for their ambitions.

Canberra arts organisations have been to the fore in joining the program, with even a well-funded organisation such as Canberra Theatre Centre putting its hand up for its oddly-titled Make Theatre Happen project.

Canberra Glassworks’ Klaus Moje project, honouring one of the capital’s most celebrated artists, aims to raise funds to acquire two of his landmark works, Chromatic Evolution 1 (2012) and Chromatic Evolution 2 (2013), for permanent installation in its new building.

Canberra Choral Society is hoping to raise funds to commission composer Sally Whitwell to create a memorable new work, with a proposed premiere in King’s Hall at the Museum of Australian Democracy, Old Parliament House, in September 2027.

Canberra’s Rebus Theatre wants to raise $10,000 for the creative development of Tent City: A New Face, an immersive theatre production developed from interviews with people who have experienced homelessness.

Canberra Contemporary is seeking donations to support a series of programs ranging from hands-on installation and writing workshops to career seminars and critique sessions, while Megalo Print Studio is hoping to raise funds for important upgrades to its gallery.

Other Canberra participants include Luminescence Children’s Choir, Canberra Burlesque Academy, Liz Lea Creates + Maitree House, Child Players ACT, Ausdance ACT, Canberra Youth Theatre, For Canberra, Contemporary and James Batchelor and collaborators.

AusArt Day 2026, Australia-wide, October 22. To donate, visit the list of participants here.
