The ACT Government will spend $37.5 million to expand the Belconnen Basketball Stadium, increasing the number of indoor courts from four to seven as part of the 2026-27 Budget.
The upgrade will include a convertible show court with retractable seating for up to 1800 spectators, allowing the venue to host higher-level basketball competitions.
Additional player and spectator facilities, expanded parking, and solar panels and battery storage will also form part of the redevelopment.
The Government says the expansion responds to growing demand for basketball facilities across Canberra, with more than 14,000 registered participants in the sport.
Planning work on the project will continue in the second half of the year, with construction timelines yet to be confirmed.
