A 37-year-old Gordon man – who was subject to bail conditions – has been charged after allegedly assaulting his former partner and punching a dog during a family violence incident in Gordon.
Police allege the man threatened to kill his former partner and assaulted her, damaged her property and punched a dog during the incident at a Gordon home about 9.45pm on Wednesday.
The woman left the residence and sought help from a nearby neighbour, who contacted police.
The man was arrested in relation to an unrelated matter and released on bail by the ACT Magistrates Court on Thursday.
After further inquiries into the family violence incident, police arrested the man at his Gordon home on Friday night.
He has been charged with multiple family violence offences, including reckless threat to kill, destroying property, hitting an animal and common assault.
