Pair charged over retail theft, order breaches

A man and woman have been charged following separate incidents involving alleged shoplifting and repeated breaches of a workplace protection order.

Police say a 34-year-old woman allegedly stole several items from a Canberra Centre store about 3.20pm on Wednesday before leaving without paying.

Store staff alerted officers on foot patrol, who located the woman a short time later and allegedly recovered the stolen items.

She has been charged with theft and breaching a good behaviour order.

In a separate incident, police allege a 27-year-old man repeatedly entered an Erindale supermarket despite being subject to a workplace protection order.

Police say CCTV identified the man, who was arrested on Wednesday. He has been charged with six counts of contravening a protection order and breaching a good behaviour order.
