Parolee charged over stolen dealership car

A 32-year-old Lyons man has been charged after allegedly stealing a car from a Mitchell dealership before being arrested at a Weston shopping centre.

Police say the man and an accomplice entered a used car dealership on Friday, stole the keys to a gold Subaru Outback and drove away in the vehicle.

Officers spotted a man matching CCTV footage from the dealership at a Weston shopping centre on Monday and arrested him as he was leaving.

Police also recovered the allegedly stolen Subaru nearby.

The man, who was on parole and bail for similar offences, has been charged with taking a motor vehicle without consent, riding in a motor vehicle without consent and breaching his parole obligations.
