Bluey and Bingo were at the Royal Australian Mint on Thursday to help open the ballot for a new collectible coin inspired by Bluey featuring the much-loved character Rusty.
Inspired by Australia’s favourite Bluey episode, Cricket, and designed in collaboration with Ludo Studio, the coin captures the spirit of a game they say has become part of the fabric of Australian life.
Royal Australian Mint chief executive Emily Martin, who was in hand to greet the canine visitors, said the latest collectible celebrated two things Australians love: Bluey and cricket.
“This colourful coin brings together the fun of cricket with the heart and humour of Bluey, celebrating the friendships, teamwork and memories that make playing together so special,” Ms Martin said.
Featuring Rusty at the centre of the design, the coin reflects the optimism of the Bluey universe while celebrating the pleasure of getting outdoors for a game of cricket.
BBC Studios ANZ director of brands and licensing Sharon Wilson said the company was delighted to see Rusty featured on the collectible coin.
“We’re thrilled to see Rusty featured on this collectible coin from the Royal Australian Mint, celebrating the magic of backyard cricket and the friendships, family moments and memories that make the game so special,” Ms Wilson said.
The coin is available as both an uncirculated coin in card and a silver proof coin.
Registration for the EQL ballot opens at 8.30am on September 18 and closes at 8.30am on September 21. To register for the ballot, visit ramint.gov.au.
