A 25-year-old man has been arrested after a shotgun and ammunition were seized during a police operation in Chifley.

Police say a warrant was issued for the man’s arrest in April after he allegedly breached his parole conditions.

Officers attended a Chifley home on Wednesday and, after several hours of negotiation, the man surrendered to police.

During a search of the property, police seized a shotgun and dozens of shotgun shells.

Police also believe the man may be linked to a number of vehicle thefts and burglaries across Canberra.

Investigations are continuing and further charges are expected.
