A teenage boy has been charged following a series of burglaries at an aged care facility and retirement village in Monash.
Police say multiple break-ins occurred between December and March, prompting the launch of Operation Rioni.
In one incident, a security guard was allegedly threatened with a knife and machete by two offenders before being chased, knocked to the ground and robbed of his torch.
Police also allege a black Nissan X-Trail was stolen from the retirement village on March 22 before crashing into a house in Gowrie. The occupants allegedly threatened a bystander with knives after fleeing the scene.
Police searched a home in southern Canberra on May 19 and seized property allegedly stolen from the retirement village, including licence plates from one of the stolen vehicles.
A 16-year-old boy, who was subject to good behaviour orders, has been charged with aggravated burglary, aggravated robbery and possessing a prohibited weapon even as investigations into the alleged co-offenders continue.
