Three men charged over family violence incidents

Three men have been charged over separate family violence incidents, including a father who allegedly assaulted his 10-year-old daughter after she stopped massaging his feet.

Police say the 57-year-old man became angry on Monday night and allegedly grabbed his daughter by the ears, pulling her face towards his chest and causing a wound to her mouth.

He has been charged with aggravated assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

In a separate incident on Monday, a 21-year-old man allegedly smashed a mirror during an argument with his partner, who fled their home.

Police had attended the home earlier that evening following a disturbance, when the man gave an undertaking to keep the peace for 24 hours.

He has been charged with breach of the peace and property damage.

The third incident occurred on September 25, when a 35-year-old man allegedly attempted to break into his mother’s home using a shovel, smashing a rear door and a window.

His mother hid in her car in the garage while police searched for the man.

He allegedly returned later with a baseball bat, again attempting to enter the home and damaging a nearby vehicle’s windscreen and side mirror.

The man was arrested and charged with aggravated property damage, property damage and two counts of assault.

He has been receiving medical care since his arrest and is due to appear in court on Tuesday.
