A 25-year-old Calwell woman has had her licence suspended and car seized after she was allegedly caught travelling at 118km/h in a 60km/h roadworks zone in Whitlam.
About 11.30pm on Wednesday, police were patrolling Kingsford Smith Drive in Higgins when they saw a white Mazda 3 sedan allegedly travelling at excessive speed.
A short time later, police detected the vehicle travelling at 118km/h in the 60km/h roadworks zone on William Hovell Drive, Whitlam.
Police allege the woman also overtook another vehicle across double dividing lines before she was stopped.
The driver underwent roadside alcohol and drug screening, with the drug test returning a positive indication for a prescribed drug.
Police inspected the Mazda and identified what they described as major safety defects. A Major Defect Notice was issued.
The woman was issued an Immediate Suspension Notice, suspending her right to drive for 90 days, and the vehicle was seized.
She was later released from custody and is expected to face the ACT Magistrates Court at a later date on charges including aggravated dangerous driving, drug driving and driving an unsafe vehicle.
