AUSTRALIA’S covid isolation period will be cut seven days to five after the National Cabinet reached a consensus on the changes in today’s (August 31) meeting.

The new rules will come into effect from September 9 and apply to people with no symptoms.
“Clearly if you have symptoms, we want people to stay home,” said Prime Minister Anthony Albanese.
“We want people to act responsibly.”
Seven day isolation will remain in place for workers in high-risk settings including aged care and disability care.
Albanese also announced that masks will no longer be mandatory on domestic flights from September 9.
