A LEARNER motorcycle rider, aged 16, was caught travelling at 108km/h in a 60km/h zone in Stirling overnight.
About 9.10pm yesterday (September 13) police stopped the motorcycle on Namatjira Drive, and suspended the rider’s licence.
On closer inspection, police allege the motorcycles rear tyre had a large, flat skid pattern from previous excessive braking, and the middle tread pattern of the tyre was below the minimum wear marks.
The rider was issued two infringement notices. One for exceeding the speed limit by more than 45km/h, with the rider receiving a $1861 fine and six demerit points, and a $208 fine for using a motor vehicle not complying with standard tyres.
