The Australasian Dance Education Awards are coming up on October 26, but it’s time to start crowing now, as Queanbeyan’s Bom Funk Dance Studio has been named a finalist in seven categories and Cooma’s Monaro Dance Centre has been shortlisted in two sections.
It’s not a first for Bom Funk, with owner/director Kym Degenhart having last year won Australian Dance Studio Owner of the Year and Excellence in Customer Service and Excellence in Team Culture, at the ADEA Awards.
This time round, they’re up for Australian Dance Studio of the Year, Regional Dance Studio of the Year, Excellence in Customer Service, Excellence in Leadership, Excellence in Community Impact, Excellence in Marketing & Brand, and Studio Dance Teacher of the Year, Zoe Tuckfield and Shekiralea Healy.
The awards honour the work of teachers, studio owners and high school dance educators, while raising awareness of dance education.
Degenhart said: “2024 marks my 10th year in business, so winning one of these prestigious awards would be the icing on the cake for our upcoming Decade of Dance celebrations.”
The winners of the 2024 Australasian Dance Education Awards will be announced at Bangarra Dance Theatre’s headquarters in Sydney on October 26.
