La Fiesta brings Latin American culture alive

The free Latin American Festival, La Fiesta, returns to Civic, 3pm-10pm, on Friday.

It is the City Renewal Authority’s second annual La Fiesta at the Latin American Plaza in City West.

This year’s theme, “How your country celebrates”, will see embassies share their perspectives on cultural traditions.

With music ranging from folk bands, salsa and ska, Teresa Comacchio, of the City Renewal Authority, says the vibes will be “authentic, heavy and eminently danceable” in an expanded program of music, art, dance and Latin cuisine vendors.

Ms Comacchio says returning favourites from last year’s festival, which attracted more than 5000 people, will  include Kokoloco Dance Crew, Raio Del Sol Samba Band and Oscar Jimenez with his four-piece Latin folktronica band Amaru Tribe.
