Plans for Light Rail Stage 2B have been revised following public feedback, with changes to the State Circle alignment, a proposed power substation and the Melrose Drive Bridge.
The ACT government has released the final Environmental Impact Statement for the proposed Commonwealth Park to Woden extension after 230 submissions were received on the draft.
Under the revised plans, a proposed traction power substation will move from Yarralumla to Denison Street in Deakin.
Light rail infrastructure between Sydney Avenue and Adelaide Avenue, including the Melbourne Avenue stop, is now proposed for the inner verge of State Circle rather than the median, retaining existing on-street parking.
Plans to widen the Melrose Drive Bridge over Yarralumla Creek have also been dropped, avoiding the need to completely close sections of Melrose Drive and Yarra Glen during construction.
Kiss-and-ride spaces are proposed at the Hopetoun Circuit, Kent Street and Carruthers Street stops.
The Australian and ACT governments are considering the environmental assessment, with a decision expected by the end of the year on whether the project can proceed and under what conditions.
The final statement and submissions report are available online, with printed copies at Civic and Woden libraries until December 10.
