RENOWNED  Australian operatic diva, Yvonne Kenny, has broken her ankle in two  places and has cancelled her starring role at the “Voices in the Forest”  gala at the National Arboretum on November 23. 

“CityNews” has discovered that Kenny, who  was to appear with soprano Emma Matthews and tenor Rosario La Spina,  fell over at her home in London.

Following surgery for her injuries, a doctor has advised she will not be able to fly because of  the risk of deep-vein thrombosis.

The artistic director of “Voices in the Forest”, Christopher Latham, has moved quickly to engage the up-and-coming Australian soprano, Greta Bradman (granddaughter of cricketer Sir Donald Bradman),  to  sing Kenny’s arias.

Kenny’s withdrawal will inevitably lead to superstitious rumblings about how theatrical people are always saying, “break a leg,” but in this case, a more appropriate adage would seem to be, “the show must go on.”
