Cheap lunches. The Gozleme Cafe on London Circuit

Across the road from the police station the Gozleme Cafe is a new arrival on London Circuit but doing a roaring trade.

$8 gets you a gozleme in a choice of flavours on a big wooden paddle.

I went for the chilli potato filling.

So much chilli the mashed potato had turned orange. It packed a pleasant whallop.

The gozleme was light and not greasy, all up a real delight of a meal in this price range.

As an added bonus they’re doing authentic turkish coffee in beautifully ornate cups for $3.50.

I feel like it’s a bit of a find, but make sure you get there early.

Waxing lyrical about the wonders of bubbly

"Recently I tasted three English sparkling wines that seem to be getting better and better. All were crisp and acidic, and all seemed an equal to some of the best Australian and French wines," writes wine columnist RICHARD CALVER.
