ACT Supreme Court appoints new judge

TODAY (December 14) the ACT Attorney-General, Gordon Ramsay, announced the appointment of David Mossop as the new Resident Judge of the ACT Supreme Court.

Mossop will start in this new role next year in February, replacing Justice Refshauge who retires next year. Justice Refshauge will spend his time before his retirement in May finalising reserved judgments.

“Mr Mossop’s experience in his current role as Associate Judge, along with his experience in his former roles as an ACT Magistrate and as a barrister at the ACT Bar, means he is well equipped for this new role with expertise in both the civil and criminal jurisdictions,” says Ramsay.

“Mr Mossop has a proven track record as Associate Judge in discharging a significant proportion of the ACT Supreme Court’s civil caseload.

“He will play an important role in strengthening the ACT Court System and I welcome him to the role.”

President of the ACT Bar Association, Ken Archer, welcomes this new appointment.

“His… commitment to the efficient disposition of the work of the Supreme Court will ensure that the advances in case management processes of the Court will be continued.”
