A GAS leak at the Woolworths Petrol outlet on Mawson Place today (December 16) has resulted in the closure of the busy road. 
ACT Fire and Rescue evacuated the area and closed the road after they were called to the leak at 10.53am.
The leak has been located and shut off. Firefighters are now searching nearby drains to ensure all atmospheric readings are free from any residual gas before declaring the area safe.
