Police release CCTV of attempted Calwell robbery

ACT police have released CCTV footage of an attempted aggravated robbery at the Calwell Club on Sunday (December 18).

The male offender walked into the club on Were Street at about 2.30am holding a weapon which he used in an attempt to threaten two females and a security guard onto the floor.

One female was forced to the ground and while the man tried to do the same with the other female, the security guard approached the man who then ran out of the building.

Security and a patron at the club then chased after the offender. The patron caught the offender in nearby parkland and during a scuffle between the two the patron received a number of knife wounds, which resulted in serious injuries.

The male offender is described as 180cm tall and of medium build. He was wearing a balaclava, a dark coloured hoodie and light blue jeans.

Investigations are ongoing.
