A WESTON man was caught yesterday (November 30) on College Street in Bruce driving 89km/h in a school zone.
The 40-year-old man was speeding past in his truck at about 2.15pm.
Officer-in-charge of Tuggeranong Police Station, station sergeant Chris Meagher says he was frustrated with this driver’s behaviour.
Meagher says: “School zones are in place to protect our most vulnerable road users. In this instance, the driver took 120 metres to bring the vehicle to a complete stop – highlighting just how dangerous speeding can be.”
The driver was issued with a “Traffic Infringement Notice”, was given a $1831 fine and has since lost six demerit points.
