ACT border shift talks begin

DISCUSSIONS to move the NSW and ACT border in Canberra’s north have begun.

It’s understood that Chief Minister Andrew Barr has been contacted by the NSW Premier Dominic Perrottet who had indicated “in-principle” support for a possible border shift.

Expanding the territory’s border in the north-west to incorporate Parkwood land – which is in NSW and is part of the Yass Valley Council – has been on the ACT government’s agenda for some time.

Parkwood will form part of the ACT government’s Ginninderry development.

The project is a joint venture between the ACT government and the Riverview Group, and will include 3200 homes near the border at West Belconnen.

It’s understood that the NSW Department of Premier and Cabinet advised last month that Mr Perrottet had agreed to begin the border discussions with Mr Barr.

One Response to ACT border shift talks begin

Palmerston's enduring Lament says: 17 September 2022 at 6:50 am

This would seem to be (yet another) media redirection by the CM to divert chatter away from the Auditor’s review of the Lake in fill fiasco.

It is what the late Sir Joh would call “feeding the chooks”.

A wise media and a savvy Opposition would call the CM out on this, as we know his track record now is one of big statements that never actually happen in the timeframe stated, or if at all.
