THERE will be parking and traffic disruptions in the coming weeks as infrastructure works to support light rail begin.

For five consecutive weeks there will be no access from Parkes Way into Coranderk Street, as vehicles will not be able to turn right at the roundabout intersection. Detoured signage will be in place through Edinburgh Avenue.

Weekend closures are expected to begin from midnight each Friday and remain closed until 6am on the following Monday. The affected days include September 16 to September 19, September 23 to September 26, October 7 to October 10, October 14 to October 17 and October 21 to October 24.

To further support traffic movements during the construction of infrastructure, the ACT Government will also install temporary traffic lights on the northern side of Vernon Circle to allow safe right-turn movements to access Constitution Avenue and London Circuit. This work is expected to take around 8-12 weeks.

The raising London Circuit project will reduce car park capacity, with areas fenced off to be used for construction activities.

The four car parks include ACT Government surface City Hill (corner of Constitution Avenue and London Circuit), surface car park at 41 Marcus Clarke Street, Acton waterfront surface car park and surface car park at the corner of London Circuit and Edinburgh Avenue.

Verity Lane and Odgers Lane are also set to receive upgrades, meaning two consecutive partial weekend closures of London Circuit. These are expected to occur on the weekends of October 8 and 9, and October 15 and 16.
