Gun salute to honour Queen Elizabeth

TO mark the passing of Queen Elizabeth II, a gun salute will take place this afternoon (September 9) at Parliament House at 5pm.

Members of the public are invited to view the 96-gun salute, from outside an exclusion zone.

If people wish to leave flowers, they may be left against the curved walls of Parliament House or at Government House, although The Royal Family have noted that instead of floral tributes, Australians may wish to consider donating to a charity of their choice.

Those wishing to sign a condolence book are welcome to do so at either Parliament House or Government House, or leave a message here.

Flags at Australian Parliament House were flown at half-mast today as a mark of respect and mourning.
