A MAN smashed glass doors and broke into Old Parliament House early this morning claiming that people were “trapped” inside and needed to be set “free”.
Police say the 30-year-old man from Watson broke into Old Parliament House around 1:20am today (September 6).
After a search of the premises, during which the man was unable to be located, police made an announcement over the PA system asking the man to make his way to the main lobby.
The man did so, and he was placed under arrest.
After he was taken into custody, the man told police he believed people were trapped inside Old Parliament House and needed his help to set them free.
The man was charged with trespass and damaging property and will face court today.
