Queanbeyan-Palerang man dies from covid

A DOUBLE vaccinated man in his 80s from the Queanbeyan-Palerang region has died from COVID-19, Southern NSW Local Health District (SNSWLHD) has reported today (January 20).

His death comes as Queanbeyan-Palerang recorded 108 new cases of the virus, and brings the death toll in southern NSW since June 2021 to seven.

Throughout southern NSW, there were 582 new cases of covid reported today, 459 of which were detected by PCR tests and 123 detected by Rapid Antigen Tests (RATs).

There are currently 22 people in the district hospitalised with the virus, four of which are in intensive care.

Throughout southern NSW there are:

  • 76 new cases in the Bega valley
  • 146 in Eurobodalla
  • 66 in Goulburn Mulwaree
  • 35 in the Snowy Monaro
  • 3 in the Upper Lachlan and
  • 25 in the Yass Valley
