Motorcyclist the third road death in 48 hours

The scene of the fatal Melba car crash.

THE ACT has recorded its eighth road death this year following a fatal car crash on Kingsford Smith Drive, Melba, this evening (May 20). The death comes barely 24 hours since a young man died in a head-on collision on Hindmarsh Drive yesterday.

Ambulance, Fire & Rescue and police are on the scene of what’s understood to have been a single-vehicle incident.

Kingsford Smith Drive is closed in both directions between Companion Crescent and Dolling Crescent and emergency services say the road is likely to be closed for some hours. Diversions are in place and motorists are advised to seek alternative routes.
