Woman menaced with knife in failed carjacking

POLICE are seeking witnesses to a failed carjacking in Gungahlin.

At  5.45pm on Thursday (September 1) two women approached a driver sitting in her white Nissan SUV while parked near the intersection of Gozzard and Efkarpidis streets, Gungahlin.

One woman allegedly opened the vehicle door, pulled out a knife and made verbal threats to the driver of the SUV before demanding the occupant exit the car.

When the driver of the vehicle resisted, she was assaulted before the duo ran off towards the Gungahlin Leisure Centre.

The two females have been described as under 30 years of age, about 165cm tall, of slim build, Caucasian and both wearing black clothing.

Police are seeking witnesses or CCTV/dashcam footage in the surrounding areas of the incident, including any suspicious behaviour near the Gungahlin Leisure Centre at about 5.45pm
