Shakespeare writes a Christmas carol

Tempo’s Christmas radio play crew, Weston seated far right

ONCE again, Tempo Theatre has got together with radio 1RPH to record its ninth annual Christmas radio play.

This time it will be “Merry Christmas, Mr Shakespeare”, written by Michael Weston and Jo Jones and  directed by Weston, who is the brains behind the project. It features an impressive gang of Tempo radio experts and actors playing famous characters..

According to Weston: “It’s basically The Bard himself telling a story he wrote about a Scottish character called Lord Geeza McScrooge and how he was changed one Christmas.”

Maybe sounds a bit familiar? Well, if you don’t like it, he suggests, you could just retitle it “Shakespeare writes a Christmas Carol”.

“Merry Christmas, Mr Shakespeare,” will be broadcast on radio 1RPH (1125 on the AM dial) on Christmas Day around 7pm and available in the New Year here.
