Woman stabbed in Belconnen carjacking

A 26-year-old man is alleged to have attacked a woman with a knife before carjacking a white Mazda 4WD utility in a multi-story car park of a Belconnen shopping centre at 11.30am on Sunday.

During the altercation, a woman suffered a single stab wound to the arm, and was taken to hospital.

The stolen vehicle was sighted by police a short time later in Braddon, and the man was arrested about 11.50am in Ainslie following a short foot chase.

He has been charged with aggravated robbery, intentionally wounding a person, knife possession, two counts of failing to stop for police, two counts of dangerous driving and driving while disqualified.

Anyone who witnessed the aggravated robbery in Belconnen, or who may have dash-cam footage of the vehicle, should call 1800 333000 or on the Crime Stoppers ACT website.
