Sourdog Provisions - a charming neighbourhood bakery, deli and providore - is a breath of fresh air for the Nicholls shops, offering dine-in, takeaway and catering.

I selected the crackling port belly with the sensational salads created for that day's menu. I was delighted with the new-season, tangy apple sauce and the pork belly was soft and tender ($20).

"Scott Sio's no stranger to being in Wallabies camp. But this time it's different, the 30-year-old comes into the Australian squad without a domestic team as his 11-year career with the Brumbies has ended," writes sport columnist SIMON ANDERSON.

He is the fourth most-capped player in the 35-man squad that was named at the start of June ahead of a three-Test series against England in July.

"I spent my entire twenties in Canberra and I have grown to really love the place," said Sio.

"The Brumbies will always hold a special place in my heart, but all good things must come to an end."

A legally blind grandmother being forced out of her of almost 30 years, is the ACT government's latest target for relocation under its unpopular social-housing scheme.

Gillian Uhle, 54, was already living in her Rivett home when she started losing her vision some 20 years ago.

Over the past two decades, the grandmother has become familiar with the layout of her home, and requires little assistance to find her way around having learnt where everything is.

"Sure, I bump my head on a few cupboards every now and again, but I feel comfortable, confident and safe here," Uhle said of the house she's proudly called home for 28 years.

With many fungal diseases, prevention is better than cure and is better for the longevity and health of the tree and its ability to produce fruit.

Copper ultimately impairs cellular function in viruses, fungi and bacteria. It causes them to collapse and prevent spores from producing and drying out.

Copper sprays are harmful to aquatic life and soil organisms, so it's important not to treat the ground or around ponds or water baths for wildlife. Spray copper in the cool of the day and not near flowering plants in the garden as it can be harmful for bees.
