Canberra restaurants have picked up two major titles at Australia’s Wine List of the Year Awards, with The Boat House named Best Wine List ACT and Capitol Bar & Grill recognised for its focus on local wines.
Capitol Bar & Grill won Australia’s Best Listing of ACT and Canberra District Wines for the third consecutive year, with judges recognising a selection spanning local producers from eight regions.
The Boat House, which was inducted into the awards’ Hall of Fame last year, took out Best Wine List ACT for its mix of established and emerging wines.
Riesling-focused wine bar Rizla was also a finalist for Australia’s Best Wine List of no more than 200 wines and Best Listing of ACT and Canberra District Wines.
The Boat House topped the awards’ ACT Top 10, followed by Rizla, Romanée Wine Bar, Bar Outro, Beltana Farm, Chairman & Yip, Raku Dining, Capitol Bar & Grill, Les Bistronomes and Lunetta.
Nationally, Melbourne restaurant Society was named Australia’s Wine List of the Year and also collected three other major titles.
Chair of judges Toni Paterson says this year’s leading lists showed stronger support for Australian wines, including wines produced in their home regions.
