A 19-year-old man has been charged with murder following a death in Civic yesterday morning.
At about 9.45am yesterday (December 4) police were called to assist a man who had collapsed in Garema Place. Despite the first-aid efforts of members of the public, police and ACT Ambulance Service officers, the 29-year-old man died at the scene.
Information received from witnesses (and after police reviewed CCTV footage) indicated the deceased man was involved in an altercation before his collapse.
At about 10.30am, a 19-year-old man from Greenleigh, east of Queanbeyan, was identified and located in City Walk before being arrested in Ainslie Place after a short chase by police.
He has been charged with one count of murder and will appear in the ACT Magistrates Court tomorrow (December 60).
