LUMINESCENCE Chamber Singers and Luminescence Children’s Choir join forces with the Canberra International Music Festival to present fine Christmas music on show at Wesley Music Centre, Forrest, December 17-19. “Christmas Classics” is sold out , but it’s still possible to book for other parts of the season – Andrew Blanch and Emily Granger on harp and guitar at 4pm and “Magnificat” at 6.30pm on Saturday, December 18, and for the children’s choir’s  “Love is Born”, 4pm, Sunday, December 19. “THE Sense of Singing” is a ͏ vocal concert by Fleur-de-lys vocal students with the Manning Clark Singers  in the Manning Clark House garden,  11 Tasmania Circle, Forrest, at 6.30pm tonight (December 16) with classical songs of Bellini, Purcell and Vaughan Williams joining pop classics of Rickie Lee Jones as well as culturally diverse music. The concert will move to the Baptist Church Greening Room, 11 Curry Crescent  Kingston, if it is cold and/or raining.

IN “A Very Musical Christmas”, 30 performers, mostly children, teens and singers in their twenties from Budding Entertainment, will take to the stage tonight (December 16), to perform songs from musicals such as “The Grinch,” and “Elf the Musical” as well as Christmas classics. Proceeds will go to Little Oak Sanctuary, which rescues and shelters neglected and abused animals. Belconnen Theatre, Swanson Court Belconnen, 7pm. “ANCIENT Greeks: Athletes, Warriors and Heroes” will open at the National Museum of Australia tomorrow, featuring more than 170 objects from the British Museum’s collection of Greek treasures, with artefacts dating from 800 BCE to 200 CE. THE last event for 2021 at the yellow arts house, The Queanbeyan Hive,  will feature local stalls, musical entertainment and a bar. 274 Crawford Street, Queanbeyan, 5pm-9pm, Friday, December 17, all welcome.

PHOENIX Collective presents its final program of the year, a program of Korngold, Mozart and Brahms featuring pianist Edward “Teddy” Neeman and artistic director of Phoenix Collective and violinist Dan Russell, which is appropriately titled “Much Ado About Nothing”. DARAMALAN Theatre Company’s virtual performance of “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” will be live-streamed this Friday, December 17, Live Stream at 4pm (Accessible at vimeo.com/646233348) and 7.30pm (vimeo.com/648848388.) All welcome to watch.

THE Tributary Projects gallery has just moved into the Gorman Arts Centre gallery at the corner of Currong Street north and Batman Street, Braddon, and is set to offer an exciting public program featuring the work of emerging visual artists, curators and writers. A fundraiser will be held there from 4.30-8pm, this Friday, December 17, all welcome.

JODIE Cunningham, CEO of Craft ACT: Craft + Design Centre and Artistic Director, and Brenda L. Croft, artist and associate professor, Indigenous Art History and Curatorship at the ANU, will be in conversation at Canberra Museum and Gallery, 2pm-3pm, Friday, December 17, book here
