An 18-year-old NSW man has been arrested and a 4WD seized following investigations into damage to sportsgrounds in Canberra’s south.
Police say a black Toyota Hilux was seen doing burnouts on the Wanniassa playing fields on May 19.
Officers stopped the vehicle on the Monaro Highway at Hume on Tuesday and allegedly confirmed it was the same ute involved in the incident.
The 4WD was seized and the 18-year-old driver, from Karabar, was taken into custody.
Investigations are continuing and police are seeking information about this and other incidents involving damage to sportsgrounds.
Anyone who has witnessed or has dashcam footage is urged to contact police via the Crime Stoppers ACT website.
