Man on bail faces new child-abuse charges

A 27-year-old man has been charged after police allegedly found child-abuse material on a laptop during a search of his Gungahlin home.

Police say the investigation began in May after a report from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children about an online user allegedly uploading child-abuse material to a cloud storage service.

Investigators linked the account to the 27-year-old man.

Police searched his home on Thursday and seized a laptop that allegedly contained child-abuse material before arresting him.

The man was already on bail over separate child-abuse material allegations following an earlier investigation.

He has been charged with two counts of possessing child-abuse material and one count of refusing to comply with a section 3LA order.
