Three new fully bulk-billing GP clinics are opening across Canberra under a $10.5 million Commonwealth initiative aimed at improving access to primary healthcare.
Clinics in Phillip and Conder opened this week, with a third clinic due to open in Gungahlin next month.
The Phillip clinic is operating from a temporary site at 90 Corinna Street before relocating to Coombs, while the South Tuggeranong Next Practice Community GP clinic is located in Sidney Nolan Street, Conder.
The Federal Government says there are now 23 fully bulk-billing GP practices in the ACT, with eight clinics switching from mixed billing since expanded Medicare bulk-billing incentives came into effect in November last year.
Federal Health Minister Mark Butler said the new clinics would help make medical care “cheaper and more accessible” for Canberrans.
